Kids In College
The Mission of Kids in College (KIC) is to expose children to the university environment through enrichment, exploration and creative thinking. The program takes place over one week in the summer from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year, KIC will take place on June 15 - June 19, 2020.
Both the elementary and middle grades camps are available and open to students completing Kindergarten through Grade 4 (elementary) and those completing Grade 5 through Grade 8 (middle grades).
Both camps have a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics focus (STEM). Students will utilize 21st-century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity.
Step Up to STEM
Step Up to STEM is an innovative interdisciplinary academic program that uses exciting real-world subjects to challenge rising 9th graders across North Carolina and build their skills in science, math, and communications. Please take a look at this flyer from NCSSM for more information.
I have linked the presentation from our DEP meeting on September 24th here.
If you were unable to attend the meeting, please email me at email@example.com. I can either send the paperwork home with your child for you to review and sign OR we can set up a time to have a conference.
Our annual DEP meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 24th from 5:30 - 6:00 in the media center. The DEP presentation will begin promptly at 5:30 so we can be finished in time to attend a very special event.
Our HPS AIG Department has invited a very special guest to speak with our HPS families on Tuesday September 24 at 6:00 at Grandview Middle. Dr. Rick Courtright will be speaking about Duke TIP and the social/emotional aspects of gifted children. 7th Grade Duke TIP invitations were sent home last week with students who qualify. 6th Grade Duke TIP invitations will be sent home next month.
Duke TIP information can be found here!
Welcome back to another exciting year at Grandview Middle School!
We will be having a meeting mid-September to review your child's Differentiated Education Plan (DEP). As schedules are being created, I will work on reviewing placements to ensure students are in the appropriate advanced classes.
If you have any questions or concerns prior to that date, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
